The Lembeh Strait, on the east side of the peninsula, is covered with black sand both underwater and on the surface. Due to the big harbor of the city Bitung, many boats pass between the mainland and Lembeh Island, often throwing their trash overboard.
Don’t expect to see a pretty reef while going there, but it is a very interesting place to spend a day or two.
Why? Well, the “aliens” have landed there and dug themselves in the black sand and under the trash. Difficult to spot, but Thalassa’s guides, with their amazing eyes, can spot them for you. It will feel like “treasure hunting” for adults.
Critters to be spotted there are the Mimic Octopus, Pegasus, Frogfish, different species of the Seahorse family and much more. Book a day trip to experience this “muck diving”.
