Alien creatures in the black sand
The Lembeh Strait, on the east side of the peninsula, is covered with black sand, both under water and on the surface. Due to the large port city of Bitung many ships sail between the mainland and Lembeh Island, so do not expect a beautiful reef here. Nevertheless it is a very interesting place to spend a day or two in search of extraterrestrial creatures. You don’t believe they exist? That will change quickly when you see what the sharp eyes of the Thalassa guides spot for you. The Banggai Cardinal Fish, Pegasus, several types of frogfish, seahorses and many other strange creatures hide in the black sand. It feels a bit like treasure hunting for adults.
